Paragliding vs parasailing vs hang gliding
Three ways to be in the sky — only one is silent, soaring flight.
Beach resorts advertise several aerial activities. They sound similar but feel completely different. FlyTenerife offers tandem paragliding and paratrike — here is how they compare to parasailing and hang gliding.
Tandem paragliding
You fly in a fabric wing with no engine (classic launches) — silent, soaring flight using the wind and thermals.
Duration is typically 15–30 minutes depending on flight type. You launch from the mountains (or paratrike from flat ground) and glide with a pilot behind you.
Parasailing
You are towed behind a boat on a parachute — feet dangling, usually 10–15 minutes, mostly over the water near the coast.
No pilot beside you in the same way; less control and a very different sensation from paragliding.
Hang gliding
Rigid triangular wing, prone flying position. Tandem hang gliding exists in some places but is not what FlyTenerife offers.
Paragliding uses a flexible canopy and a seated harness — softer take-offs, slower speeds, and the style that 650,000+ of our guests have flown since Team Roberto started on the island.
